The CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme Refresher, commonly known as the SMSTS Refresher, is a 2 day course for delegates who already hold a valid SMSTS certificate and need to renew it before expiry.
This course is designed for site managers, project managers, contracts managers and other construction professionals responsible for managing health and safety on site. It refreshes key knowledge around legislation, risk management, CDM Regulations, site safety responsibilities and current industry best practice.
SMSTS certification is valid for five years, and delegates must complete the refresher course before their current certificate expires. If the certificate is allowed to expire, the full 5 day SMSTS course may need to be completed again.
Delivered at Marvel Training in Kiveton Park, Sheffield, this course helps experienced site managers stay compliant, maintain their professional status and continue managing construction site safety with confidence.

The SMSTS Refresher Course is a 2 day CITB course for delegates who already hold a valid Site Management Safety Training Scheme certificate. It is designed to refresh site management health and safety knowledge and renew the qualification before expiry.
This course is for existing SMSTS certificate holders, including site managers, project managers, contracts managers, supervisors and anyone responsible for managing health and safety on construction sites.
The SMSTS Refresher Course takes 2 days. For Marvel Training’s course date cards, show the time as 08:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
The course refreshes key site management safety topics, including health and safety law, CDM Regulations, risk management, site setup, working at height, occupational health, environmental management, leadership and maintaining a positive safety culture. CITB lists SMSTS as covering the legal, management and practical responsibilities involved in site safety.
Yes. Delegates who successfully complete the course and assessment receive a renewed CITB SMSTS certificate.
The renewed SMSTS certificate is valid for 5 years. It must be renewed again before expiry by completing the SMSTS Refresher Course.
Yes. Companies can book multiple places by choosing a course date and increasing the quantity in the booking summary. For larger group bookings, company training or help with delegate requirements, users should contact Marvel Training before booking.
